An Advocate for Hospice
Palliative Care – Hospice palliative and end-of life care is most
effectively delivered by an interdisciplinary team that includes medical
professionals, administrators, and hospice staff and volunteers. This care is addresses the needs of the dying,
their caregivers and the bereaved in communities across the province and is
delivered in patients’ homes, hospital acute and palliative care units,
community care facilities, hospice residential facilities, and through programs
offered by community-based hospice societies.
BCHPCA aims to …
Encourage the study and promotion
of Hospice Palliative and End of Life Care through advocacy, public awareness
and support of new and developing programs;
Provide education resources for
establishment and maintenance of institutions and organizations devoted to
providing Hospice Palliative and End of Life Care;
Promote recognized standards of
Hospice Palliative Care;
Provide a network of communication
and shared resources for all those involved in direct care and support to the
dying, their caregivers, and the bereaved in communities across BC and the Yukon.
